On Friday, April 11
th, CREW Boston’s Housing and Community Development Committee hosted a virtual discussion on “Developing Affordable Housing for Older Adults.”
The two panelists included Zoe Weinrobe, Director of Real Estate at 2Life Communities, and Andrew Leonard, Director of Real Estate Development at Harborlight Homes. Zoe provided an overview of 2lLife’s philosophy, the affordability challenges facing low-income seniors (noting that MA ranks last in the nation for economic security), and the complexities in developing and operating affordable senior housing. Andrew focused on Maple Woods, one of their recent housing developments for older adults, and highlighted the lengthy predevelopment process, financing, design, and service programs. There was even time at the end for audience questions.
Thanks to Zoe and Andrew for spending the lunch hour with us!
