On Thursday, April 9th, CREW Boston’s Design and Development Group hosted members for an exclusive hard hat tour of the Simmons Living and Learning Center, a transformative 385,000-square-foot development in Boston’s Longwood Medical Area.
The project is a cornerstone of Simmons University’s “One Simmons” vision—an ambitious initiative to unify and modernize its campus. Slated for completion in January 2027, the Living and Learning Center will serve as a dynamic hub, seamlessly integrating residential, dining, wellness, and community spaces to enhance the student experience.
Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, the facility will feature over 1,000 dormitory beds, 80,000 square feet of athletic space, and sweeping 360-degree views of the Boston skyline. The project also represents a major step in the ongoing evolution of Longwood Place and its surrounding campus district.
During the tour, attendees were able to experience the active construction site firsthand, gaining a deeper appreciation for the coordination and progress required to bring a project of this scale to life.
Following the tour, the group continued networking at Trillium Fenway.
