Longwood Place, an exciting and diverse 5.8 acre development located within the heart of the Longwood Medical Area has been 7 years in the making. Hear the arc of the story of Longwood Place which began with a partnership with Simmons University to implement their “One Simmons” vision to reimagine their residential campus. Following the consolidation of the Simmons campuses, Skanska will work with the crown jewel poised for transformative development. Longwood Place will include 1.7 million square feet of mixed-use development distributed over five buildings, including residential, laboratory/office uses, retail, and community space. The Project will open up the land of the former Simmons residential campus to the neighborhood, by featuring approximately 2.6-acres of open space and exterior public realm. It will reinvigorate a long private stretch of Brookline Avenue with retail, open space, indoor public amenities, streetscape improvements, wider sidewalks and bike accessibility, and improved circulation for all modes of movement in the neighborhood.
The panel is comprised of leaders from different facets of the project; Simmons University, The BPDA, and Skanska Commercial Development. The project recently received long awaited PDA approval and is anticipated to take shape over the next 10-15 years. Join us in learning about the evolving journey of this exciting project.
