Virtual Disussion: Community Preservation Act and Affordable Housing Trusts
Zoom
Boston MA
Members Only
How do cities and towns preserve open space, historic sites and create affordable housing? The popularity of housing trust funds has coincided with the local passage of the Community Preservation Act (CPA). Almost 80% of communities in Massachusetts that have created a housing trust fund have also adopted CPA. Ideally, the housing trust fund and community preservation committee work collaboratively to address local affordable housing needs.
Join the Housing & Community Development Committee for a Virtual Brown Bag Lunch on how cities and towns can create and preserve affordable housing thru the use of CPA funds and Affordable Housing Trusts. We will learn about the Community Preservation Act and the Municipal Affordable Housing Trust (MAHT). We will discuss these options and the challenges. We will also look at the practical application with examples of housing developments funded with CPA funds and/or MAHT. Guest speakers will include Kathleen O’Donnell, Esq., Shelly Coehring, MHP, and Kimberly Martin-Epstein (Hackett Feinberg P.C.) in her capacity as chairperson of the Swampscott Affordable Housing Trust.
1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
