CREW Boston members gathered at the Boston Harbor Hotel for the March Luncheon Program featuring Dr. Luciana Burdi, Chief Infrastructure Officer for Capital Programs at Massport, in conversation with Sarah McGillicuddy, Associate Principal at BR+A Consulting Engineers.
Dr. Burdi oversees Massport’s capital investment program and diverse real estate portfolio, which includes Logan International Airport, Worcester Regional Airport, Hanscom Field, Conley Container Terminal, Flynn Cruiseport, and other properties across the Commonwealth. During the discussion, she shared insights into the scale and complexity of managing critical transportation infrastructure while supporting the region’s economic growth.
A key theme of the conversation was Massport’s focus on innovation and continuous improvement in project delivery. Dr. Burdi highlighted the importance of exploring new ways to deliver projects, leverage technology, and improve operational efficiency across the organization.
She also discussed a shift in perspective around the passenger experience, explaining that Massport increasingly thinks of every passenger as a guest, similar to the hospitality industry, which helps guide decisions around design, operations, and service.
Throughout the conversation, Dr. Burdi reflected on her career journey as an immigrant and how her unique perspective has helped her challenge traditional approaches and drive change within the industry. Sarah McGillicuddy described her as a true change agent, bringing new ideas and innovation to infrastructure development.
The luncheon provided CREW Boston members with valuable insights while offering an opportunity to connect with peers across the commercial real estate community.
