On Tuesday, March 24, CREW Boston’s Meds & Eds Group hosted members for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Vertex’s Leiden Center II (LCII), located in Innovation Square at Boston’s Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park.
The 345,000-square-foot LCII project represents a significant expansion of Vertex’s presence in the Seaport, joining the existing Leiden Center I to form the larger Leiden Campus. Once complete, the campus will anchor Innovation Square as a premier life sciences hub, supporting Boston’s continued growth as a global leader in the industry.
The event began with a brief presentation from the project team, providing an overview of the development, its design, and its broader impact. Attendees then experienced a unique “hard hat” tour of the active construction site, gaining firsthand insight into the scale, complexity, and innovation behind the project. The team also highlighted LCII’s commitment to responsible, sustainable design, as well as its long-term benefits to both the surrounding community and the life sciences sector.
Following the tour, attendees had the opportunity to continue networking at a casual happy hour at Harpoon Brewery, an ideal setting to connect and unwind after the event.
Thank you to our hosts Kelly Kurlbaum, Associate Director, PMO, and Alex Magyar, Senior Project Manager, both of Vertex; Kena David, Director of Sustainability, and Emily Colby, Project Engineer, both of Consigli; Yulia Bortkevich, Senior Associate at Gensler; and Sarah McGillicuddy, Associate Principal, Director of Business Development, at BR+A Consulting Engineers, as well as all who attended for making this informative and engaging event a success.
