On Wednesday, May 14, CREW Boston’s Meds & Eds Committee welcomed members for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Edward and Joyce Linde Music Building at MIT.

Led by Vasso Mathes, LEED AP, AICP, Senior Campus Planner with MIT’s Office of Campus Planning, attendees explored one of MIT’s newest landmark buildings on the Institute’s West Campus. The tour highlighted the facility’s innovative design and purpose, including its thoughtful acoustical strategies, “whispering” mechanical systems, and the exceptional attention to detail evident throughout both interior and exterior architecture.

Participants experienced the building’s specialized rehearsal, teaching, and performance spaces while learning how MIT thoughtfully integrates arts and culture into its world-class academic environment. The discussion also highlighted the intersection of engineering and music, and the unique opportunities MIT provides for students to explore both disciplines together.  

The tour provided a valuable opportunity for CREW members to connect and network in a unique and inspiring setting.
