On Saturday, May 16, CREW Boston’s Sustainability Committee hosted a Volunteer Day at Moakley Park in partnership with Boston Harbor Now, the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, Boston Cares, and the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).

Under beautiful sunny skies, CREW Boston members, family, and friends came together at the Field House near Saunders Stadium to help care for one of Boston’s largest waterfront parks. Volunteers spent the morning collecting litter throughout Moakley Park.  The group than sorted the materials collected to help record the historical data for Boston Harbor Now.

With gloves, pickers, bags, breakfast, and plenty of positive energy provided by our event partners, the morning was a meaningful opportunity to give back to the community, connect with fellow volunteers, and enjoy the beauty of Boston’s waterfront.

A special thank you to Jaye Meakem, Senior Community Engagement Manager at Boston Harbor Now, for coordinating the event and supporting our volunteers throughout the morning. We also appreciate Boston Harbor Now’s invitation for CREW Boston members to participate in any of their monthly cleanups and look forward to future opportunities to continue supporting Boston’s waterfront and public spaces.
