On Wednesday, September 18
th, CREW Boston’s Design and Development Group hosted members for a hard hat tour of the 900 Morrissey Boulevard project in Dorchester. This project, which is about to begin construction, includes a conversion of the former Comfort Inn Boston into 99 units of permanent, affordable, supportive housing with a preference for seniors as they move out of homelessness and into a safe and secure home. Supportive services will be provided by Pine Street Inn, connecting residents with healthcare and other community resources.
Led by Echo Bergquist from The Community Builders (TCB) and Ed Whalen of Commodore Builders, members enjoyed seeing the site and asked some great questions. At the end of the tour, attendees took advantage of the nice weather and walked down the block along the newly improved Neponset Greenway to Tenean Beach, which will be a great amenity for future residents.
Once complete, the project will be a wonderful addition to the surrounding community. Thanks again to Echo and Ed for showing us around!
