CREW Boston

Managing Energy, Mitigating Burnout, and Maximizing Happiness to be the Best Version of You

On January 12th, CREW Boston enjoyed an in-person discussion and workshop with Dr. Camille Preston who has been researching and helping high performing leaders and teams mitigate burnout for nearly 25 years. In this workshop, she explored how to effectively manage and replenish your energetic accounts, reduce burnout, and maximize happiness for yourself and your team members.

Some key takeaways:
  • Optimize your energy: no one teaches you how to do that in school. Pay attention to what energizes you vs. what depletes you.
  • If you try to do everything, you end up doing nothing. You want slow, steady, consistent process when activating new skills.
  • Change is hard so pick the high impact thing to do.
  • Do what is in your circle of control. We spend too much time trying to drive change in areas that are outside of our control.
  • When you see someone doing something well, ask them how they do it! Tap into other people rather than recreating the wheel. Engage others – what *is* working?
  • Make deposits easy and start small: for example if you have decided you spend too much time on social media, perhaps you start by deleting one app.
  • Build on successes – success leaves clues (learn from those around you).
