Women of CREW Boston CREW Boston was excited to present a panel comprised of four CREW Boston Legacy members, Kathleen Ahern, Kathleen Joyce Kusiak, Laura Marshall and Joan Parsons, leaders in the real estate community. The panel was moderated by CREW Boston immediate past president, Leslie Cohen and there was time for attendees to ask questions and network. These amazing women participated in last year's Legacy Lunch Series, and we were delighted to have them together for an evening of candid discussion. Some great takeaways from CREW Boston’s Legacy members: All four women noted that they didn’t have a female mentor (2 had male mentors) – there weren’t many females in management when they started their careers. YOU define what success looks like for yourself. You can’t start networking too early in your career. Collaboration is critical and always ask for help when you need it. Don’t prop up your weaknesses and always play to your strengths. It’s a good idea to be up to speed on the sports highlights, especially when you’re the only woman in the room. If the older, more experienced “me” could advise my younger self, I would say, err on the side of taking more risks. If you’re thinking, “I’m not sure this is the right thing,” it might not be. Develop your skillset and be really good at it.
