At our November Luncheon Program on Thursday, 11/13, CREW Boston hosted an inspiring conversation at the Boston Harbor Hotel focused on the historic renovation of White Stadium in Roxbury. This transformational project is the result of a groundbreaking partnership between Boston Public Schools and the new Boston Legacy Football Club (BLFC), reimagining White Stadium as a state-of-the-art athletic facility that will serve both BPS student-athletes and Boston’s professional women’s soccer team.
Nestled within Frederick Law Olmsted’s iconic Emerald Necklace, the revitalized stadium will also function as a year-round community hub in Franklin Park. The project represents a significant investment in equity, education, and women’s sports, and demonstrates the power of thoughtful public-private collaboration.
Attendees heard from the women leading this initiative, who shared insights into the project’s design vision, modernization efforts, and broader community and educational impact. Moderated by CREW Boston member Marya Gorczyca, Chief Principal Consultant at Haley & Aldrich, Inc., the panel featured:
- Diana Fernandez Bibeau – Deputy Chief of Urban Design, Boston Planning Department
- Kim Miner – Chief Legal & External Affairs Officer, Boston Legacy Football Club
- Meagan Sippel – Associate, Stantec Architecture
- Michelle Crowley – Principal/Owner, Crowley Cottrell, LLC
This event highlighted how thoughtful design, community engagement, and cross-sector collaboration can transform a historic landmark into a vibrant, inclusive space for generations to come. Thank you to our incredible speakers for spending the afternoon with us and sharing their expertise.
