CREW Boston's Meds and Eds Group hosted a Conversation and Coffee with Deb Poodry, Senior Advisor, Capital & Space Planning, Facilities Management, UMass Lowell on November 9th. Deb shared the many advances that have been taking place at UMass Lowell that led to a significant change in University ranking, reputation, enrollment and campus development. Our members gleaned insights into how an institution successfully navigates major change when the majority of projects are undertaken in one sweep. UMass Lowell's progress and achievements are stunning.

CREW Boston's Community Involvement Committee hosted the fourth annual Holiday Shop for a Cause event to benefit the Elizabeth Stone House, an organization that serves homeless and at-risk families and individuals who have experienced domestic violence, substance abuse, and mental illness. CREW attendees and their guests enjoyed delicious appetizers and drinks while shopping the wares of vendors with a treasure trove of goods for the mind, body and soul, including unique jewelry, handmade knits, delicious jams and savory spreads, hand crafted signs, wine totes and even repurposed metal products! Most importantly, the event raised over $2,000 which will be used for Elizabeth Stone House's summer camp program for the children they served.

CREW Boston’s October luncheon at Boston’s InterContinental focused on the future of Kendall Square, the most innovative square mile in the world, with its dense cluster of life science, technology and education sectors thriving off of each other. Our panel included Bob Coughlin, president and CEO of MassBio; Tom Andrews, executive vice president of Alexandria Real Estate Equities; Bill Kane, senior vice president of BioMed Realty; Michael Owu, director at MIT Investment Management Co.; and Michael Cantalupa, senior vice president of Boston Properties. Over 50 CREW Boston members attended the 2016 CREW Network Convention & Marketplace held in New York City in October. The Convention was a tremendous success and the largest CREW Network gathering to date, with nearly 1,500 in attendance.

Attendees of the Networking, Wine and CREW Boston enjoyed a fun evening of conversation and wine in October. Members and guests had the opportunity to hear about the organization’s amazing committees while sampling 8 great wines and hors d’oeuvres! The room was filled with great energy and excitement as members, guests and committee volunteers mingled and networked. This was a great way for those new to the organization to learn about how to get more involved. Thanks to all the committee volunteers and our host, DLA Piper, for making this an enjoyable evening.

CREW Boston and the New England Chapter of the Counselors of Real Estate (CRE) gathered at the newly opened rooftop gardens and Conference Center at 53 State Street for a discussion on Multi-Family Housing. Moderated by Don Bouchard with Lincoln Property Company, panelist discussed the state of supply, demand, construction costs and the forecast for the multi-family market in Greater Boston. Panelists included Tom O’Brien, Founding Partner and Managing Director of HYM Investment Group and a former Director of the Boston Redevelopment Authority, Leslie Cohen, Principal, Chief Operating Officer of Samuel & Associates and Lauren O'Neil, Director of HFF.
