CREW Boston members joined forces with Events19 to host nine-holes of golf, followed by some lively networking, at Ipswich Country Club on Tuesday, July 19th. The weather was spectacular as players of all levels enjoyed an afternoon of golf on this outstanding Robert Trent Jones designed course. Through our various golf outings we hope to encourage members to start utilizing golf as another means of networking with colleagues and clients. And for those members who are still learning the game – to participate and become comfortable and confident in their skills.

CREW Boston committee members enjoyed a beautiful evening on the Roof Top at Ink Block in June. It was an opportunity for the organization to say thank you to all of the volunteers that work tirelessly to make CREW Boston great! Members were given tours of the interior spaces at Ink Block along with enjoying cocktails, hors devours and great conversation on the roof top poolside patio. The evening was capped off with lots of amazing giveaways for attendees. Thanks to all the members and friends of CREW Boston that contributed to this great event!

CREW Boston's June luncheon and annual meeting at the Boston Harbor Hotel featured Carla Harris, vice chairman of global wealth management, managing director and senior client advisor at Morgan Stanley. Carla, who is also the author of Strategize to Win and Expect to Win, inspired attendees with Carla’s Pearls, valuable lessons she’s learned through her successes and failures during a long career as a woman on Wall Street. Carla drove home the importance of not only surviving in the workplace, but thriving. She also provided key insight on how to get out of bad situations and achieve success despite any type of environment.

In June we were joined by 2016 CREW Boston Entrepreneur of the Year Award Winner -- and founding member of the Entrepreneur Exchange Networking Group – Lynne Sweet who spoke about her CREW Boston Involvement and Career Path. Building on the analogy from her acceptance speech, of the lobster which must molt its constrictive shell when it becomes uncomfortable, she shared that she felt constrained working in large company. Entrepreneurship was in her blood and starting her own company gave her the freedom to pursue her professional interests and “grow a larger shell.”

After a successful March event the Community Involvement Committee voted to host a second Wine Bottega opportunity. On Wednesday, June 15th CREW Boston members and CRE guests gathered in the downstairs private tasting room at Wine Bottega, where Owner, Kerri Platt shared a collection of limited vintage natural wine.

The 2016 Mentor Program wrap up lunch on June 15 celebrated the success of the program, which this year included 30 matches, both peer to peer, and mentor / mentee. Attendees enjoyed lunch and networked in the brand new Kimball Office showroom located at 70 Federal Street with refreshing views overlooking Post Office Square.

Over 25 women join CREW Boston at Granite Links Golf Club as we hosted a clinic to help improve their swing and short game. After the clinic, the networking continued at the Crossing Nines Patio & Bar located between the putting green and driving range.

At the June Public Strategies Breakfast, Julie Burros, the Chief of Arts and Culture for the city of Boston, led an engaging discussion about the Boston Creates’ Cultural Master Plan for Boston, due to be publically released June 17, 2016. Her office believes Boston is a city where creativity thrives. They see it in every neighborhood and community and it is among our most powerful assets.

Joan is a Senior Partner at the law firm and has been an active member of CREW for many years, including serving as CREW Boston’s 2010-2011 President. The conversation focused on three main themes.

On May 26, 2016, eight CREW Boston members volunteered for an afternoon of community service at the Elizabeth Stone House (ESH) in Roxbury. Members made a big difference for the residents and staff of the ESH, which helps homeless and at-risk individuals and families rebuild their lives after experiencing domestic violence, mental illness, substance abuse and other forms of trauma.
