Innovations in Real Estate: Mega Trends in Capital Markets with Doug Poutasse, Bentall Kennedy

CREW Boston’s September luncheon featured Doug Poutasse of Bentall Kennedy, a Harvard-trained economic analyst and forecaster who shared his insights on mega trends in capital markets, the real estate industry and the overall economy. Overall, Poutasse said that the U.S. economy is poised for continued growth, with 2.5 million jobs created within the last year. However, consumers remain cautious and have decreased spending despite an increase in wages. Demographically, immigrants, baby boomers and millennials are key transformative forces in terms of labor markets, housing markets and consumption. The election does raise the risk of market uncertainty or policy changes but so far, the future looks bright.

  • Book Discussion at Entrepreneur Exchange Networking Group Brown Bag Lunch

Book Discussion at Entrepreneur Exchange Networking Group Brown Bag Lunch

Following up on June’s CREW Boston Annual Meeting, and as motivation to FINALLY read one of these amazing women's books, the Entrepreneur Exchange Group held a discussion of luncheon speaker Carla Harris' 2014 publication, Strategize to Win. While we didn’t all manage to read the whole book in time, Carla’s words at the annual meeting certainly gave us plenty to talk about. Discussion of how Carla’s Pearls and strategies translate to entrepreneurs and small business owners was extremely insightful. We look forward to getting into some of these topics in future meetings.

Lynne Sweet at the Entrepreneur Exchange Group Brown Bag Lunch

In June we were joined by 2016 CREW Boston Entrepreneur of the Year Award Winner -- and founding member of the Entrepreneur Exchange Networking Group – Lynne Sweet who spoke about her CREW Boston Involvement and Career Path.  Building on the analogy from her acceptance speech, of the lobster which must molt its constrictive shell when it becomes uncomfortable, she shared that she felt constrained working in large company. Entrepreneurship was in her blood and starting her own company gave her the freedom to pursue her professional interests and “grow a larger shell.”
