The 2016 Mentor Program wrap up lunch on June 15 celebrated the success of the program, which this year included 30 matches, both peer to peer, and mentor / mentee. Attendees enjoyed lunch and networked in the brand new Kimball Office showroom located at 70 Federal Street with refreshing views overlooking Post Office Square.

Over 25 women join CREW Boston at Granite Links Golf Club as we hosted a clinic to help improve their swing and short game. After the clinic, the networking continued at the Crossing Nines Patio & Bar located between the putting green and driving range.

At the June Public Strategies Breakfast, Julie Burros, the Chief of Arts and Culture for the city of Boston, led an engaging discussion about the Boston Creates’ Cultural Master Plan for Boston, due to be publically released June 17, 2016. Her office believes Boston is a city where creativity thrives. They see it in every neighborhood and community and it is among our most powerful assets.

CREW Boston members enjoyed a lovely lunch and great conversation with Joan Parsons at Riemer & Braunstein on June 7, 2016. Joan is a Senior Partner at the law firm and has been an active member of CREW for many years, including serving as CREW Boston’s 2010-2011 President. The conversation focused on three main themes.

On May 26, 2016, eight CREW Boston members volunteered for an afternoon of community service at the Elizabeth Stone House (ESH) in Roxbury. Members made a big difference for the residents and staff of the ESH, which helps homeless and at-risk individuals and families rebuild their lives after experiencing domestic violence, mental illness, substance abuse and other forms of trauma.

Over 50 members and guests gathered for networking at the Long's Jewelers in the heart of downtown Boston. As part of May Foundation month, donations were collected at the networking reception in support of the CREW Boston Educational Foundation and the CREW Network Foundation. Members and guests mingled throughout the store over appetizers and wine and received a spa cleaning for personal pieces of jewelry, VIP discounts on purchases made, and a gift of jewelry cleaner at the conclusion of the event. A special thank you to Long's Jewelers for hosting us and supporting the Foundations.

CREW Boston's May luncheon at the Four Seasons featured John Barros, Boston’s first Chief of Economic Development. At this luncheon, CREW gathered a full house ready to hear about the opportunities, challenges, and future of development in Boston from the City’s perspective. John dove headfirst into the state of Boston’s economy as it stands. The numbers tell part of the story - Boston’s economy is thriving, growing 3.7% from 2012 to 2013, compared to the U.S. average of 2.2%. Also between 2012 and 2013, the city added 12,000 new jobs. But as John noted, to keep Boston growing sustainably, the City has to prioritize.

Members enjoyed an intimate conversation with Laura Marshall over lunch at Liberty Mutual in Boston. Laura's personal reflections slide was a hit with attendees covering topics from her favorite type of music (country) and food (frozen yogurt) to her greatest personal accomplishment - running her first triathlon! Laura shared her experiences along her personal career path, as well as in her current role of overseeing the exciting and impressive new campus that Liberty Mutual is building in Plano, TX.

Aricia Symes-Elmer, Founder of Shift Your Style, then gave a riveting presentation on developing and embracing your personal style and building balance into our wardrobes.

The 18th annual Achievement Awards took place on April 27 at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. Over 300 guests gathered to honor 7 members for their outstanding and impressive accomplishments in commercial real estate. Incoming president Cara Nelson with DLP Piper thanked Geri Denterlein for sharing this special evening with CREW Boston as the master of ceremonies and invited everyone to moving across the hall to the ballroom for food, drinks and a lot of networking.
