The CREW Boston Public Strategies Committee (PSC) held its monthly breakfast meeting on Wednesday, October 21 and committee members were treated to an “insider view” of the development of the new Boston Public Market. Situated on the Rose Kennedy Greenway and on the ground floor of MassDOT’s Parcel 7 facility, the Boston Public Market is highly accessible by foot or transit with the Haymarket T station within the existing building. Presented by CREW-Boston and PSC members Kate Mora and Caitlin Gilman of Architerra and Amy Prange of Colliers.
CREW Boston members toured Samuels & Associates’ most recent development – Van Ness – located at the 1325 Boylston Street in The Fenway neighborhood. The tour was led by Abe Menzin and gave insight into the development process, including Boston’s first City Target. Members learned about how this building is changing the landscape in The Fenway and ended the evening with a reception overlooking the city.
At the October Luncheon Program, CREW Boston member Kristin Blount moderated a panel comprised of Dave McLaughlin of WeWork, Lois Goodell of CBT Architects and Levi Reilly of Skanska to discuss the changing landscape of workplaces. In a move toward creating more efficient workspaces and workplaces where millennials would like to work, many design changes have been made to increase mobility, flexibility, density, sustainability and to create varied places for collaborative working.
CREW Boston members and colleagues enjoyed a round of golf at Wellesley Country Club on a crisp fall day to benefit the CREW Boston Educational Foundation. Established in 2008, the Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) endowed fund that supports the CREW Boston Educational Foundation Scholarship (Scholarship).
Spencer Levy, Americas Head of Research for CBRE and a senior member of the company’s global research team, offered a highly interactive presentation on Real Estate Capital Markets at the Sept. 25, 2015, CREW lunch meeting at the Hyatt Regency Boston. Surveying a list of attendees, he singled out individuals working in various categories of the real estate and asked what they thought about the state of the industry – agreeing with most but not all of the responses.
On Wednesday, September 16th CREW Boston members gathered at DLA Piper's Boston office for a night of speed networking. A joint event of the Mentor Committee and the Rising Leaders Networking Group, the evening started with brief testimonials from Holly Nelson, Senior Vice President with U.S. Trust, and Joanna Murray, Asset Manager with TA Realty, about their experiences in last year's mentor program where they were paired together. Both having had a great experience they encouraged others and especially those that could be mentors to join this year's program.
On Thursday, September 10th, CREW Boston members and guests shopped and mingled at the National Office Furniture Showroom to benefit The Elizabeth Stone House, CIC’s focus charity. Clothing, jewelry and accessories were on display from The Fashion Truck and members had a great time trying on the items while networking. A portion of the sales will go to the Elizabeth Stone House.
Members and guests enjoyed a beautiful evening on the swanky roof top pool deck of 1330 Boylston Street in the Fenway. Everyone that attended enjoyed fabulous city views while sipping Washington State red or white wines and learned about this year's CREW Network Convention & Marketplace that will take place in Seattle on September 30 - October 3, 2015.
At CREW Boston's Annual Meeting & June Luncheon Program in the Wharf Room at the Boston Harbor Hotel, attendees heard from best-selling author and social researcher, Shaunti Feldhahn as she opened the eyes of working women to surprising truths about the perceptions and expectations of men that may be affecting them as women every day in the workplace.
