    Rising Leaders Group Executive Reception

    In January, the Rising Leaders group was appreciative to be hosted by Kim Sherman Stamler and Related Beal for the first Executive Reception of 2017. Over 25 young women from various positions in the industry, including construction, development, finance and asset management joined for the evening. As president of Related Beal, Kim lead conversation about the company’s history and recent Boston merger, as well as her career path, beginning as an intern and growing with the company. She captivated the group with discussions about employee culture and women in real estate.

    Project Spotlight Tour of 888 Boylston

    CREW Boston members had the opportunity to tour 888 Boylston Street, which is deemed the most sustainable building in Boston. Members enjoyed a video highlighting some of the key features of the building before Dave Stewart and Mark Denman took them on a guided tour of one of the unfinished floors to see the open floorplan and then down to another floor, which had an outside terrace overlooking Boylston Street.

    2017 Mentor Program Kick-Off Luncheon

    The Mentor Program had a very successful kick off lunch on January 12th at KeyBank Real Estate Capital with over 30 participants from the program in attendance.  This year’s Program is comprised of 58 members, including Peer to Peer and Mentee to Mentor pairs. pairs and asking everyone to introduce themselves to the group. After introductions and learning about suggestions for a successful experience, the mentors and mentees broke out into pairs to formalize their match and discuss logistics, as well as, what the mentee are looking to accomplish to begin a productive and rewarding mentorship relationship.

    Holiday Gift Wrapping Party to benefit the Carolina Hill Shelter

    Each year during the holiday season, CREW Boston members donate and wrap presents for the residents of a local homeless shelter.  This year, members gathered to wrap gifts at a Wrapping Party on December 14th at the offices of Colliers International hosted by the Community Involvement Committee.  In total, CREW Boston members donated and wrapped presents for 17 families including 21 children and 20 adults at the Carolina Hill Shelter in Marshfield.  The Holiday Wrapping party provided CREW Boston members with an opportunity to give back to the community and to network with fellow members during the holiday season.

    Planning for Boston’s Future Leading up to 2030

    CREW Boston’s November luncheon at Mandarin Oriental Boston focused on the City’s planning efforts leading into 2030 and beyond. The event centered around the question of who we want to be as a city in 15 years and how these planning efforts can help us to get there. The event kicked off with an overview of Imagine Boston 2030, the City’s planning initiative which is working to define a vision for Boston leading up to its 400th birthday and beyond and provide a roadmap to realize that vision. As Boston’s first citywide plan in 50 years, Imagine Boston 2030 will create a framework to preserve and enhance Boston while embracing growth as a means to address our challenges and make the city stronger and more inclusive.

    CREW Boston's Meds and Eds Group hosted a Conversation and Coffee with Deb Poodry, Senior Advisor, Capital & Space Planning, Facilities Management, UMass Lowell on November 9th.  Deb shared the many advances that have been taking place at UMass Lowell that led to a significant change in University ranking, reputation, enrollment  and campus development.  Our members gleaned insights into how an institution successfully navigates major change when the majority of projects are undertaken in one sweep.  UMass Lowell's progress and achievements are stunning.

    4th Annual Holiday Shop for a Cause

    CREW Boston's Community Involvement Committee hosted the fourth annual Holiday Shop for a Cause event to benefit the Elizabeth Stone House, an organization that serves homeless and at-risk families and individuals who have experienced domestic violence, substance abuse, and mental illness. CREW attendees and their guests enjoyed delicious appetizers and drinks while shopping the wares of vendors with a treasure trove of goods for the mind, body and soul, including unique jewelry, handmade knits, delicious jams and savory spreads, hand crafted signs, wine totes and even repurposed metal products!  Most importantly, the event raised over $2,000 which will be used for Elizabeth Stone House's summer camp program for the children they served.

Our panel included Bob Coughlin, president and CEO of MassBio; Tom Andrews, executive vice president of Alexandria Real Estate Equities; Bill Kane, senior vice president of BioMed Realty; Michael Owu, director at MIT Investment Management Co.; and Michael Cantalupa, senior vice president of Boston Properties.  Tina Cassidy, executive vice president and chief content officer at InkHouse served as moderator.
