During this virtual tour, Elkus Manfredi Architects and Turner Construction Co. gave participants a live, first look of Foley Hoag, a redesigned office space and case study for the topic “How to Have it All.” At the outset of a design and construction project, clients often have a seemingly impossible wish list – the highest quality design project, delivered on the most efficient schedule, and at the best value for their dollar. Members of the EMA and Turner teams discussed how they were able to meet these goals while showcasing their new offices and state of the art conference center.

Fellow CREW Boston mentors and mentees gathered for the 2021 Mentor Program Virtual Wrap-Up. During the event, past mentor participants talked about their mentor program experience and how they leveraged their relationships after the program. Additionally, members discussed some initiatives they hope to achieve with the mentor program going forward. Lastly, there was some time for virtual breakouts where pairs discussed what they have accomplished, what they have learned, and any additional goals they have created.

On May 19th we hosted deeper dive into the conversations we’ve had in the past, focused on how stakeholders, real estate professionals, and community development partners understand wealth creation and economic development in the City of Boston. Our panelists consisted of city agents, developers, and neighborhood activists, and the conversation focused upon wealth and equity-building in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston as well as the current revitalization efforts in Nubian Square (formerly Dudley Square.) Roxbury has long been home to activists, civil rights leaders, artists and musicians; Nubian Square is the geographic heart of the city and is intrinsic to the health and well-being of Boston as a whole.

On May 13th Hillary Shine spoke to CREW Boston about understanding your value in the marketplace and how to negotiate your worth in both a current and new positions. Hillary set the stage by indicating that people are on the move and there is a real war on talent in the marketplace right now. The pandemic has certainly provided people the time and headspace to think hard about their current work environments and how for many this last year has allowed them the opportunity to see the benefit of a hybrid work from home/office lifestyle. Shine stressed the importance of truly understanding your value by looking carefully at your entire compensation package not simply what shows on your W2 when evaluating and placing a value to your net worth.
